BRC XXXV - Minutes of Meeting 28th May 10

5/30/2010

Thanks to the Banker and family for hosting BRC XXXV at the Banker's Vault on Friday night 28th May 10.
Taco's were laid on by the Banker for those that came pre dinner.

Apologies: Professor

As usual it was a great night with some highlights as follows:

1. Both the Developer and BigBluff were scheduled to be late due to the attendance to the Dragon's first Home Game at OKI using their Season Tickets.

2. Banker selected an interesting pattern for the table cloth which made seeing the cards on the table difficult however the real reason for using it became apparent as the plastic table cloth served well under bombardment by the Jagger in several wine spills. We will now refer to the Jagger as the Coonawarra "Valdeez" Jagger.

3. Prior to arrival of the Developer and BB, GT and Jagger were apparently  involved in what has been variously described as a vigourous debate, battle of the pitbulls, exaggerated discussions and embarrassing. This was as a result on a countback normal flush between Punter and Jagger which in the end, both came second to the Rok's full house!!!. It has yet to be clearly identified as to who was in fact correct and BB is currently investigating the matter in detail and will report back to the members ASAP.

4. Arrival of both the Developer and BB was around 10pm after a fanatastic and well deserved 30- Nil thrashing of the Eels at Oki- Revenge is sweer!!!!

5. Both the Developer and BB were fined 17 small blinds for being late, being the number of hands missed. This was agreed by the members present at 8.15pm as being the appropriate fine for late starters and as such the Constitution has been updated accordingly. Both Developer and BB accepted the fine without hesitation.

6. The game pace then slowed according to GT after the arrival of the Developer and BB, however the pots were now much more substantial with the familiar "Raise" being more often stated by BB than not.

7. Pots seem to go in the Developer's direction with a steady build up of reds.

8. BB introduced the doubled sided elevator which drew mixed feedback but led to a large pot on 2 occassions.

9. The Jagger's "Big Box"  was relegated to the "never to be played again" box along with his 7-card Stud

10. Refreshment break at 11pm was well received.

11. Game went on with a number of large capped rounds in various games.

12. Game finished just before 2am

13. Winner was Developer followed by The Rok then Damit!!.

14. Biggest Loser records were lost in transit and will be advised at another time.

15. Members agreed to consider Maverick's request for a Saturday night game for the next BRC.

What A weekend .... !

1) Many thanks to the Banker for hosting BRC XXXV ( Up to 35 meetings now! )It was, as always , a very enjoyable, humour filled ,"non-controversial" night. The venue was excellent ,the catering first class ( we all remember the salami ) & some good wines sampled. My eyes are still trying to come back into correct focus
and re-adjust.The "test pattern" table cloth played havoc.

2) A huge thank you to BB & Sonya for putting on a marvelous dinner and hosting our inaugural awards ceremony.
A truely excellent evening !
A Big thank you to you both from Gayle & I .

On another matter which I raised briefly on Saturday night.
The Perpetual Trophy has been engraved showing The Jagger as winner for 2009/2010 . As there are not many meetings during a calendar year (4-5), I propose that in future the BRC season should be over a 2 year period. This would align with the current trophy engraving and also give players down the ladder early ; time to make a play for placings.
Other members thoughts ? ...

Many thanks once again for our hosts this weekend.

Rok,

I vote NO to the biannual trophy for BRC. It bad enough considering Jagger for one year let alone 2!!!! or if the worst happens 4 years in a row!!!

Should be an annual tournament with annual awards, our tarhet will be to get more games into one year.

The Jagger will need to replace the trophy badge for next year when the BB will rise and defeat all the want to bes!!!

Hail BB for BRC Championship 2010!!!!

Rok,
My preference is an annual award; things get very interesting in the last round with double points, especially with somebody trying to protect a lead.

Punter

I like the idea as proposed by The Rok. Alternatively we could state a minimum number of games, and if not achieved we bring the prior games of the previous years into account. For example if we are short by 3 games, add in the prior year last 2 games excluding the bonus round.

Why am I not surprised the Jagger supports the Rok's biannual trophy.!!!

Keep it simple on an annual basis, gives us all something to strive for each year. I think that the winner of the previous year should concede points to the others- What do you think Jagger??
