Notes From TC Jagger
Dear BRC Members . Game LXXIV wrap up. Game 5/2016.
Thank you to the hosts, Mr and Mrs Rok and Ms C Rok. As per the norm, great food and drinks, especially the tall chocolate coated poker Cake. Very enjoyable, light and tasty. Unfortunately we did not drink as much wine, as this was compensated by the smooth Scotch whisky.
The evening got off to a slow start because of the late arrivals of TC Jagger and Developer, who claimed the M5 was jammed packed and complained that he had to travel 68 km to get to the Ponderosa, just too far south. While at least this provided Developer the opportunity to grab a catnap, as he was suffering from a bad case of Jet lag. It did not last long, by about midnight he was at it again.
The results of the game LXXIV at least created some clarity from where the potential 2016 Champion might come from. Only 1 final game remains to play for 2016 .
The spoils for the evening was shared by Punter and TC Jagger, with 1st and 2nd place holders respectively, 1 good hand win could have made a difference. 3rd and 4th place winners was much closer with a shared pot delta, Sniper and Banker. 5th place went to Big Bluff with his head just below water and the Rok with 6th place. The final 3 places held by Maverick, The Professor and the developer was only separated by a $1.
Current placings almost remain unchanged from last round. The Banker maintains 1st place on 39 points and is fancied to win 2016 Championship for the first time. Will the drought be broken as predicted by TC Jagger last year? The gap to 2nd place has increase to 5 points with the Rok on 34 points. 3rd place remain a tough battle with Sniper and Big Bluff only 1 point behind, both on 33 points. Punter moved up the ranks with 5th position again only 1 point behind on 32 points. Developer drops his key position to 6th place now on 30 points. Followed by Maverick, TC Jagger and The Professor on 24, 23 and 22 points respectively and all fighting for last place.
Thanks again for the great friendship and rivalry while we head towards game 100 and our 60th year! We need to plan something memorable.
In the meantime please keep the 9th and 10th of Dec free for game 6/2016 and partners function.
Regards
Grandfather TC Jagger
Notes From Mav
Thanks Jim, Gail, Claire and Harry for a great night.
Definitely the best surface that we play on is at the Temple of DOOM - pity it is not mobile to be transported to other venues.
I won the first and close to the last hand but not much in between - bit hard to compete with jagged 5 of a kinds 2 or 3 times in a row regardless of game by certain players.
Anyway - it was phone listening to everyone debating the number of bets gone when we have only been playing for 14 years <image001.jpg>
I'm starting to jump on the bandwagon to change the absurd first bet syndrome of 100-200-400-600-800. 2 options come to mind:
1. Just go 100 increments to 400 - but you can go 100-400 if you wish to cap it right away.
2. Other option is to continue with 500 bets after 100 high - this would stop it right away as apart from BB - not many will risk $2000 without seeing many cards yet.
Just food for thought.
Will send invite out for PARTNERS DINNER for 10th DEC soon - keep the date open - provided this will be BRC ?
Cheers,
Mav
Notes From Banker
Nick,
I also agree that the table should win some sort of award.
Also if i can add my 2 cents worth on betting for first round.
I'd suggest just one bet, going straight to 500.
ie currently we go 100/200/400/600/800
instead we just go 100/500
cheers David
