BRC CONSTITUTION (April 2024)
1. When the request for a meeting date is made, any member that is anxious to stay in the competition points running must make this clear so that all efforts are made to accommodate a date to suit. Once an initial date is agreed then any member that cannot then make this date can request an alternative date however if the request is too late then members such as Punter that have already booked flights then the member must accept the meeting will proceed. The principle for date setting is determined by the date that can accommodate the most players.
Arrival time for the meeting will be from 7.15pm. Meeting will be called to order at 7.30pm to discuss constitution matters and vote on new matters of question. Members wishing to raise new matters of question should do so by circulating a notice at least 7 days prior to the next meeting date to all members. Matters in question will be passed by a majority vote of members in attendance on the night. Proxy voting is allowed with prior notification and casting of vote by email to all members or confirmation by phone to attending members.
Game time starts at 7.45pm latest or after any voting, notwithstanding late arrivals. Prior to dealing of the first hand each player will be asked to nominate their anticipated leave time.
Attendance by either laptop from remote location or by a nominated proxy player in lieu of laptop connection is allowed by the members as long as there is a proxy player at the table and cash facility is arranged beforehand. Prior notice to the BRC is required to arrange facility and proxy player.
Late starters are allowed with prior notification to the members, with the fine for being late being $100 times the number of hands missed to be collected for distribution over the next 3-4 games as a pot builder to be added at the game start. The Host is to administer the distribution.
2. Each player is given a minimum of $20,000 in chips for $20 buy in. The chips are valued at $100/$500/$1000/$5000.
3. Seat allocation can on a first come basis or on a card draw basis, with highest card drawn sitting to the left of the game host and progressing round to the left with next highest drawn card and so on. Late arrivals will be seated to the immediate right of the current game dealer. No changing of seats is allowed unless formally requested and majority agrees. Host can choose his seat to suit himself.
4. First dealer on the night will be the Game Host. Any matter of playing dispute on the night will be adjudicated on the spot by a majority vote of all players present. This majority decision is final on the night.
5. Dealing will be conducted in a clockwise direction. Player to the dealer’s right must cut or “bless” the cards before the deal.
6. Dealer chooses the game to be played and shall nominate either a Standard or Wild Card game. The number of strip type games per dealer round is limited to maximum of 5 games or ½ the number of player whichever is the lowest.
7. Wild Card games shall have a maximum of up to; 4 wild cards per player (“personal wild cards”) or 4 wild cards per game. Wild cards shall be the same value card in all suits eg. 8’s in all suits, one-eyed jacks, red 10’s, queen of spades. Wild cards will be displayed either immediately or at a dealer nominated time during the game. Where a wild card fits within a hand as a genuine card this wild card can be counted as genuine card if the player so chooses.
8. Hierarchy of hands as follows:
• Genuine Royal Flush (no wild cards)
• Genuine Straight Flush (no wild cards)
• 5 of a Kind
• Royal Flush with wild cards
• Straight Flush with wild cards
• 4 of a Kind
• Flush (6s and up) or Full House (full deck)
• Full House (6s and up) or Flush (full deck)
• Straight
• 3 of a Kind
• 2 Pairs
• 1 Pair
• Highest single card in hand
9. Count backs for same hands shall not apply except for:
A) FLUSH; with the highest same suit card in hand being the winner;
B) WILD CARD GAMES; where genuine hand (no wilds) will rate higher than same hand with wilds. The lower number of wild cards used in the hand will also have a higher rating i.e. 5 Aces hand with 1 wild card beats 5 Aces hand with 2 or more wild cards.
10. Donkey straights are excluded unless specified by the dealer before he deals.
11. Betting, passing and folding must occur in sequence.
12. Folded hands are to be turned into the dealer with the exception of stud poker where any cards showing are to remain open.
13. Structured Betting Game;
Each playing hand anti-up of $100 per player.
1st Round of betting: The first player after the dealer may check or start the betting at $200, the next player may bet at the
value of $500, the betting is then capped at $700 in total.
2nd to 4th round of betting: The first active player after the dealer may check or start the betting at $500, the next player may match or raise the bet at the value of $500. The betting is capped at the 3rd raise at 4 times the betting value of $500 ($2,000) for 2nd and all subsequent rounds of betting. There shall be a total maximum of 4 rounds of betting in any one game
14. The betting values as noted in clause 13 shall apply all night from 7.30pm to 12:00am or till end of game.
15. Miss-dealing your hand results in either losing your deal or a penalty of a BB bet.
16. Your bet can only be to the value of what you have in front of you, if you cannot match the bet placed before you, you can either fold or you can go “all-in”. This means that the pot is split with the main pot being put to one side with everyone matching your bet and a “side pot” with the extra over bets that are only for the players matching the rest of the higher bet. Once you are “all-in” you cannot bet anymore and simply watch the rest of the game. The side pot then gets added to by the remaining players. Additional side pots can happen as players go all-in. If the player with the “all-in” wins the hand he only wins the main pot, the highest hand of the remaining players wins the side pot/s that they have contributed to.
17. Additional chips may be requested at any time but only before a new hand is dealt; this will be counted as negative chips at the end of the game. You cannot get additional chips during an active game.
18. No looking at other players cards unless you have both folded, no comments to be made
19. Leaving the game at short notice is available to anyone with minimum 1 hour notice to members present.
20. For members leaving early or stopping early with or without chips in hand, any left over chips can be donated to the next pot if no more than $4,000 in chips otherwise they must be cashed in. Leaving early is defined as not staying or not playing in the last hand of the night.
21. Point system for early departure by members is to be as follows:
If a member departs in a zero or in a loss position, then no change to their $ position is made for the night. Ranking will be as per normal system.
If a member departs in a positive position then, the $ position will be recorded at half the actual position and ranking will be determined by the adjusted result.
The allocation of points is as follows:
First position will be allocated 10 points
2nd 9 points
3rd 8 points
4th 7 points
5th 6 points
6th 5 points
7th 4 points
8th 3 points
9th 2 points
A non attendance equates to zero points.
Equal position points are to added and then shared equally
22. Intermission for Coffee break to be around 11pm.
23. Last round of the night is to ideally end with the host of the meeting on or soon after 12.00am, as agreed by the majority of members present. host should deal last hand of night notwithstanding if it is not his turn to do so.
24. "Terminator" card , unless specified otherwise, means the nominated card that is only exposed after all hands are declared on the table by all players. If this Terminator card matches any card in any player's remaining cards the players are holding in hand, then the players holding a card matching the Terminator card are eliminated from the game in play.
