BRC XXX - Minutes 22 May 09

5/24/2009

Thanks to The Rok, Mrs Rok and Little Rok for hosting BRC XXX, venue was good as was the hospitality, food and refreshments.

As usual there were highlights of the evening:

1. Dinner at the Maso's Club at Mortdale was attended by Rok, BigBluff, Dam It!!, Punter, Jagger and Developer. Late arrival by Jagger and Developer delayed ordering so meals came late and then required some quick eating and drinking to depart.

2. Arrival by the dinner party to the Rok's place was around 8.30pm with Professor and apprentice, Banker and Stats already there.

3. The Sniper sent his apologies by email from Kakadu, NT.

4. All members, wearing hats of various descriptions,  waited for Maverick's arrival at the nominated arrival time deadline of 8.42pm which came and went. Maverik arrived around 9pm with $5 in hand for BB. Delay to the wether was blamed for the delay. Photos of the meeting were taken and will be uploaded to the Gallery.

5. Fortunes went around the table with early winners The Professor and the Developer building a chip stack. Jagger was under pressure!! He even spilled a drink onto the table- surprise!!

6. The Developer hit with deadly force, delivering a genuine straight flush to the Jagger's wild card fuelled 5 Aces hand  leaving him deflated further.

7. The Constitution was questioned regarding the use of wild cards in a genuine hand on 2 occasions. The question was raised as to whether a wild card can be used as a genuine card where applicable in a hand as a genuine card. Some discussion took place but it was agreed by the majority of members that where applicable, wild cards can be counted as genuine cards if so chosen by the player. It was agreed that the Constitution will be amended to include this rule.

8. BigBluff and Dam It!! both came back from the brink at one stage, going All-In and scooping the pot to live a few more hands before having to cash up

9. Refreshments and sweets were had at the 11pm break. The Rok had decantered a 30 year old port in honour of BRC XXX. Birthday wishes were given to Dam It!!, Stats and upcoming dates for Banker and the big FIVE ZERO for the Rok.

10. Fortunes changed after the break as we moved into the business end of the night. Professor's stack dwindled and the Jagger started to wind up in earnest.

11. The Professor, Stats and Dam It left after midnight, Jagger took the wind out of the remaining members sails with an unseen straight flush built up with wilds after going head to head with Maverick and stealing the pot out of Maverick's hands.

12. With the Jagger now well and truley ahead most members began to fade.

13. Last round, finishing at the Rok, saw the meeting come to a close at around 2am

14. Clear winner of the night - Jagger.

15. Biggest Loser - The Punter

16. Refer to Competition Table for full listing of placings and current standing.

17. Membership fees of $10 were collected which included $4 Annual fee plus $2 fee for the past 3 games. Per game fee of $2 will be charged per member from here onwards. Sniper and Stats need to pay their dues($12) at next meeting. Jagger will be the keeper of the fees. Fees go towards costs for trophies/Awards and Annual Dinner.

18. BRC XXXI will be at Maverick's place at a date to be agreed.

Item 6 the losing hand was 5 ACES!!!. using 2 wild cards.
The best quote of evening was missing. I think it was "the difference is that I can take it, but you can't"

Jagger,

Whose quote are you talking about and to who was it directed?

Grest night ROK and Family

Obvious lowlight for me was jagger's 11th hour realisation that he had as usual jagged a straight flush to be my 4 kings , after first declaring he had a straight - seems like you bluffed yourself , jagger , but in the end winners are grinners and the rest of the table moaned.

I wish I could have attended BRC XXX (without foregoing my holiday).

I note that Jagger displayed remarkable consistency with his usual behaviour - a lot of "jagging" and a drink spillage.

More importantly, happy birthday to Rok - another one achieves the great milestone. Of course, my biggest disappointment is missing out on the 30 year old port. I assume that the various gout sufferers had to abstain.

See you all on 24 July.

Big Bluff,

Another saying which should be added to the quotable archives is : " For The Kids " .

It has been a while since I caught up on the web site, a whole month has past since BRC XXX. For the record and to answer the Developers question. It was my quote to Maverick during the 11 pm break.

Great night Rok. BTW I think we should a different theme each game. Rather glasses and Hats. Next round suggest we dress as your favourite team, doesnot have to be NRL team.

I will do my best not to spill any wine on the table. If I dont I might change the Jaggers luck.

Can wait for BRC XXXI.

Winners are grinners. Manly Sea Eagles to the finals. BTW for any St George supporters, I can arrange to get a ST George Jersey personally signed to you by Wayne Bennett. (the inscription at your choosing). You need to be quick. Cost is $400 Funds go to the Special Olympics.

Jagger,
I Love the thought of continuing the theme idea.
Another suggestion could be " Wild West Saloon " .. HATS,SIX SHOOTERS,SPURS,-- You could arrive by horse rather than "Lexus". Instead of coffee at 11.30 we could line up shots of Bourbon. There is no limit to the imagination.
Bring on BRC XXX1. - At the Mavericks Saloon .

I motion for the Host to select the theme for the night.

BTW, the challenge has been made by Jagger to Mrs BB to make the Croquembouche dessert for the group. I am happy to provide/paid for the ingredients.
